Goldengirl is an early non-series title by Peter Lovesey, who is better known for his Peter Diamond series, and a couple of historical series, including one I really like featuring Albert Edward (Bertie), the Prince of Wales, as the protagonist. (Although apparently not too many folks liked it, since it only runs to three books 😒.)
In any case, based on the blurb, Goldengirl is really different (sounds kind of like a Harlan Coben book), but it’s free right now at Kindle US and UK, so you can try it, and then delete it if you don’t like it!
