Janet Dawson, who writes the Jeri Howard books, several of which I’ve read and liked, and the Jill McLeod/Zephyr series, which I haven’t read (but keep meaning to), also has written a few stand-alone mysteries. One of these, The Sacrificial Daughter, is free right now at Kindle US and UK. It appears to have been self-published, but gets pretty good reviews – 4.3 stars on more than 100 reviews. And, it’s free, so if you start it and don’t like it, it didn’t break the bank 😀.
