If you’ve somehow missed trying Martin Walker’s Bruno, Chief of Police series, now’s your chance – an omnibus of the first three books in the series is on sale in the US for $4.99, which is less than $2 a book if you need all three. I’ve been reading this series from the beginning, and found the early books to be excellent, a few of the books in the middle to be merely pretty good, and the last couple to be back on their way to excellent again. (See here and here for a couple of reviews.) Just to be honest, for calibration, I’m a huge Francophile, but what’s not to like about the French countryside? and French food? and French wine? And some pretty timely mysteries too.
