I have no idea if the Linda Berry who writes the Sidney Becker series is the same Linda Berry who wrote the Trudy Roundtree series, which came out in real paper in the late 1990s and 2000s. The Trudy Roundtree series was six cozy mysteries and a novella, and I read and enjoyed all of them. Some of those have just recently started coming out as e-books, and I’m hoping for them to go down just a bit in price at some point in the future.
But in the meantime, there is a free book out right now in the self-published Sydney Becker series, which I haven’t read. And if it is the same Linda Berry, it might be pretty good, even though these definitely don’t look like cozies. On balance, I suspect these are two different authors named Linda Berry, so it’s up to you as to whether you want to risk it. But the third book in the Sydney Becker series, Cold Revenge, is free right now, so not much to lose if you don’t like it…
