The Day She Died is a non-series thriller by Catriona McPherson. It won the 2015 Anthony Award for Best Paperback, so I gave it its own post.   You can find info and links here.

Dead Centre is the seventh and final book (although the Kindle page says it’s the first, but I believe SYKM) in Joan Lock’s historical Inspector Best series. I haven’t read this series, which was published back in the 2000s, but am always happy to try a new historical series.

  6. Four more Joffe freebies – a couple of which won’t be free much longer, so grab them if you want them. The first three are mysteries, and the last one is a WWII historical novel.

A Vow of Silence is the first in the Sister Joan series by Veronica Black. I read a few of these in paperback in the 1990s and liked them.

    Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08SMPQHR1

Death Never Strikes Twice is the first in the Johnny Merak series by John Glasby.

  7. Two Joffe freebies:

Sing It to Her Bones is the first in the Hannah Ives series by Marcia Talley. It was a finalist for the 1999 Agatha Award for Best First Novel. It appears to be free only in the UK; in the US it still appears to be published by Dell, and is not free. Presumably the rights were sold separately, and Joffe was able to get them in the UK.
    Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01EXAFMIM

Murder at the Château is the second book in the Brittany murder mystery series by Anne Penketh
    Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D6GQTJNF
    Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D6GQTJNF

  8. Three free Joffe murder mysteries, and one free romance…grab them fast if you want them…

A Dirty Death is the first in the Den Cooper/West Country series by Rebecca Tope. I’ve read a few of Rebecca Tope’s Thea Osborne/Cotswolds series, and liked them well enough, but haven’t read any in this series. Now maybe I’ll try this series, someday, when all my reviews are written. (Sure…)
    Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B889TJ7P
    Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B889TJ7P

Murder on Port Meadow is the first in the Oxford Dog Walker series by Annie Dalton, with Maria Dalton
    Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09VH5T656
    Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09VH5T656

Darkness Rises is the first in the Jeffrey Flint archaeological mystery series by Jason Monaghan. I got all excited when I read the words “archaeological mystery”, since I tend to like mysteries with archaeological themes, but reading the blurb, I’m not so sure. Still, it’s free, so I may try it sometime. And, of course, YMMV….
    Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZFPKCY4
    Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ZFPKCY4

Tildy is the first in the, well, the Tildy Regency romance series by Sara Fraser. Per the blurb, the author’s bio is pretty interesting and unusual:

Sara Fraser is the pen-name of marine commando and foreign legionnaire Roy Clews. Fraser is the author of The Surgeon’s Apprentice, Til Death Do Us Part and The Healing Nightfall, among many others. Fraser has also written a number of mysteries as well as a number of novels influenced by a life of travel and work all over the world.

I haven’t read any of his mysteries, but when I looked at them on SYKM, they looked kind interesting, so I may give them a try if I see any on sale…
