Our History Has Always Been Contraband: In Defense of Black Studies is free right now at Haymarket Books

Our History Has Always Been Contraband: In Defense of Black Studies is free right now at Haymarket Books, in advance of its July 4, 2023 release on normal e-tailers like Amazon and Kobo. And if you prefer to buy via one of those e-tailers, it’s only $0.99/£0.99 in pre-order. This is a collection of essays and writings edited by Colin Kaepernick, Robin DG Kelley, and Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor. Per its blurb, it’s meant to balance out efforts to remove content from an pilot AP African American Studies course by reproducing some of that content in this book. The list of included authors is pretty impressive, including David Walker, Frederick Douglass, Anna Julia Cooper, Zora Neale Hurston, WEB Du Bois, CLR James, James Baldwin, June Jordan, Angela Y Davis, Robert Allen, Barbara Smith, Toni Cade Bambara, bell hooks, Barbara Christian, Patricia Hill Collins, Cathy J Cohen, Kimberlé Crenshaw, Saidiya Hartman, and Khalil Gibran Muhammad.

And my thanks to @hildea on the Mobile Read forums, who just pointed this out in a post!
