The Scarlet Ruse is the 14th in the Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald. It’s on sale for $1.99 today, as part of today’s US Kindle Daily Deal, matched at Kobo US. Travis McGee titles usually run $10 and up in the US, so it’s nice to see one on sale. I don’t have much to say about this series other than that the books are classics of their type – fun adventures and great escapism – although McGee might be a little bit “un-woke” for some tastes these days. But who wouldn’t want to take your retirement in chunks, while you’re young enough to enjoy it, and cruise your houseboat up and down the Florida Keys? Titles in this series don’t tend to stay on sale very long, usually just for the day (January 15, 2021), so grab it now if you want it.
