The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata is on sale right now in the US

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is the first of Mariana Zapata’s books that I read and really liked, although this wasn’t her first book. I’ve liked most of her books a lot, but this one is still my favorite. It’s a little odd – it’s very long and slow-paced, but I couldn’t put it down, and I still re-read it from time to time. (And I had to suspend a little bit of disbelief about the visa thing – you’ll know if you read it – because I’m pretty sure the character who needs a visa would have no real trouble getting one, but I enjoyed the book enough to grant the suspension.)

Anyway, Wall is on sale right now at $1.99, as a US Kindle Countdown Deal, for about 1 3/4 more days. And it’s Kindle Unlimited (KU) also, so if you have that, you can try it for free if you prefer…

  1. As I mentioned in the OP, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is my favorite of Mariana Zapata’s books, with a few others quite close. One of the “quite close” ones is Hands Down, which is a spin-off from Winnipeg, featuring one of the secondary characters in that book, Zac Travis. It’s on sale right now for £0.99 at Kindle UK.

  2. Another one of my Mariana Zapata favorites, Kulti, is on sale for $1.99 right now at Kindle US. Although the title sounds a little odd, Kulti is just the last name of one of the main characters in the book. I may be a little biased since I played soccer in college, and this is definitely a soccer-centric book. But I really enjoyed Kulti, and I think non-soccer folks could enjoy it too. (And I liked it enough to reread it not too long ago, which definitely doesn’t happen with too many books…)

  3. I like a lot of Mariana Zapata’s books, but my range of liking her books is wider than for many authors. From Lukov with Love is up there, though, for me – I’d rank it just a tad below my two most-favorites, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me, and Kulti, kind of on a level with Hands Down. Lukov is on US Kindle Countdown right now at $0.99 for about half-a-day more, and then it’s going to be $1.99 for a while too. (It’s normally $4.99, but is also KU, if you have a membership…)

  4. Kulti is now $0.99 at Kindle US, as part of today’s Daily Deal. The link and other info in the comment that’s fourth above are still good…

  5. Four of Mariana Zapata’s books have dropped to $1.99 each at Kindle US. One of them, Kulti, is one of my two absolute favorites of hers. The other three are slightly below those two, but still really enjoyable IMO. All have been on sale before, sometimes for less, and all are KU if you have that…

    1. I read When Gracie Met The Grump just now via KU, and enjoyed it a lot. I’d put it at about fourth or fifth favorite on my list of her books…
