Evans Above is the first title in Rhys Bowen’s first series, the Evan Evans series. It’s a fun cozy series that I read mostly in DTB*, which is a good thing because the e-books in the US run $11.99 each, having gone UP from $7.99 a while back. Which is insane for very old (late 1990s/early 2000s) backlist, and they almost never go on sale – like, I’ve never seen most of them ever on sale. So I almost hesitate to mention that Evans Above has dropped to $3.99 in the US, which is still a bit high for backlist IMO. But worse, if you like it, the rest of the series is going to cost you, unless you can find them at your library or at your local used bookstore, so be forewarned…
Oh, and Minotaur Books clearly wants to hook you, because Evans Above is also KU, but none of the other titles is. So be doubly forewarned…
*DTB = Dead Tree Book – i.e. a paper book
Evans Above is now £0.99 at Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B39GRSDL
Sadly it’s now up to $11.99 (!!!!!!) in the US, which is sheer insanity…
The first eight of the ten Evan Evans mysteries by Rhys Bowen are available right now for variously £0.99 or £1.99 each at Kindle UK. It appears Bowen may have gotten the rights back since these are Joffe Books editions. By contrast, all ten are still listed at $11.99 in the US (crazy for old backlist – this was Bowen’s first series, back in the 1990s and 2000s) and the three I spot-checked were all pubbed by traditional publisher Minotaur Books.
I really like the Evan Evans series – cozy though it is, it’s also quite fun. And now, for the moment at least, you can check it out on the cheap, and even read most of it on the cheap too. Oh yeah, and it’s KU in the UK if you have that…

The Evan Evans series is another of those series that are Joffe in the UK, and thus reasonably priced there (still mostly £0.99 and £1.99), while being big publisher (Minotaur) and outrageously priced in the US (actually have gone UP to $12.99 each since last September!!!). And right now the first in the series, Evans Above, is an even better deal in the UK – it’s free there at the moment.

Evan Can Wait is the fifth in Rhys Bowen’s first, very cozy, but very fun, Evan Evans series. It has dropped to £0.99 in the UK today as part of today’s Daily Deal. And the rest of the series is still sitting at either £0.99 or £1.99 as well.
Sadly in the US, where a big publisher still has the rights, these are $11.99 each, slightly better than the $12.99 they were a while ago, but still totally crazy for decades old backlist. So if you live in or travel to the UK, grab them there 😊.

Evan and Elle is the fourth book in the series, and it has now dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B721XB79
Evan Help Us is the second in the Constable Evan Evans series. Per SYKM, it was a finalist for the 1999 Barry Award for Best Novel, and it’s free right now at Kindle UK. (And sadly, insanely, it’s $11.99 with a different publisher at Kindle US…)

Evans Above is free again at Kindle UK, but sadly not in the US, where the rights appear to be owned by a different publisher. In the US, it’s a stunning $12.99.
