    Joffe’s free book today is a “gripping historical adventure”: Pearl of the Orient by Christopher Nicole. It’s the first in his Pearl of the Orient series.

    I do wish Joffe would ease off on the all the “gripping” and “thrilling” and “heartwarming” extra adjectives in their descriptions. Or at least use some adjectives that actually provide some info about the book. I wonder if that stuff works – presumably Joffe thinks it does. But they pretty much just annoy me. Oh well, rant now over…

    Moorland Mist is the first in the Sinclair Family Saga by Gwen Kirkwood. It’s described as a romantic historical.

    The Body in the Transept is the first in the Dorothy Martin mystery series by Jeanne M Dams. I’ve read and enjoyed several of the books in this series back in “real paper” book days.

    One of Joffe’s two free “books” today is a box set of the first three books in Rachel Ward’s Supermarket Mysteries series. Although it calls itself “The Complete Supermarket Series”, there is now a fourth book in the series, so it’s not truly complete. But, it IS free, so…

    The included books are: The Missing Check-out Girl Mystery, The Missing Pets Mystery, and The Missing Babysitter Mystery.

    A Murder of No Account is the first in the Eve Duncan series by Julia Underwood. Per the author’s bio, and also just per its length, it’s really a novella, the first of three in this short series, and the three have also been gathered in an omnibus, Murders in the Blitz.     Two freebies today, one mystery/thriller and one romance. You can guess which is which 😊…it’s actually a little harder than you might think, just from the titles alone. But you can sort of do it by elimination – one of the titles pretty much HAS to be a romance, so the other must be the mystery/thriller.
