I’ve been keeping an eye out for Ovidia Yu’s latest Su Lin/Crown Colony mystery, The Cannonball Tree Mystery, to go on sale. And now it has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. I know what I’m going to be reading tonight! Per SYKM, the last couple of titles in this series were nominated/finalists for various historical mystery awards. Although certainly not hard-boiled or noir, this series is less cozy than Yu’s earlier Aunty Lee series. I’ve liked both series a lot.
Also, just as an aside, if you like historical mysteries set in Singapore, I’ve quite enjoyed two recent books by AM Stuart: Singapore Sapphire, and Revenge in Rubies, both set a bit earlier in time, in early 20th century Singapore. Although it’s not on sale, my review of Singapore Sapphire can be found here and also links for purchase.
