Skip Langdon Vol. 1-9 is pretty much what it inelegantly sounds like – an omnibus of the first nine of Julie Smith’s Skip Langdon titles, the ones that were published in the 1990s and early 2000s, before she took about a 15 year hiatus with this series. The ominbus goes free at Kindle US and UK every few months, but for a VERY short time each time, so grab it now if you want it and don’t have it already. I’ve read and enjoyed many (all?) of these – Smith does a really nice job of making you feel as if you are in New Orleans, and has some good plots too. Oh yeah, and per SYKM, the first title in the series won the 1991 Edgar Award for Best Mystery and was a finalist for the 1991 Anthony Award for Best Mystery.

    If you’re not new to this blog (and assuming you want them in the first place!), you probably already have all of the books in Julie Smith’s Skip Langdon series, since they go free pretty often, either individually, or in various omnibuses. But just in case, here are three individual titles, and also an omnibus of the first three titles in the series, all for free right now. This is more than are usually free at one time…

    The first five were conventionally published before being e-published by Smith’s own BooksBNimble press, which also publishes (or re-e-publishes) a bunch of other authors, like Tony Dunbar, Shelly Singer, etc. And when I went to the BooksBNimble website, just to check it out, I discovered they are offering a “mini-anthology” of two free Skip Langdon short stories (The End of the Earth and Always Othello) in exchange for joining their mailing list. Up to you whether you want to give them your email. (They have had mine for a while and have not inundated me with email…)

    If you’ve somehow missed out on some of Julie Smith’s Skip Langdon series, now there’s an omnibus of the first five titles going for free at Kindle US and UK. As mentioned in the OP, Smith’s books go free pretty often, but usually not for very long, so grab this now if you want it!
