Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line by Deepa Anappara won, per SYKM, the 2021 Edgar Award for Best Mystery. This appears to be Anappara’s first mystery, but it didn’t just win “Best First Mystery”, but straight-out “Best Mystery”. I haven’t read this yet, but now I’m going to get to (!!!), because it has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.
