Sharon Kay Penman’s short four-book Justin de Quincy series is one of my top ten (even top five, depending on my mood) favorite mystery series. I wish she would write more titles in the series! Now the third title in the series, Dragon’s Lair, has dropped to $4.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. This is not a great price, especially for old backlist, but it is normally over $10 in the US, and hasn’t been on sale for a lower price in many years, so I decided to post it anyway.
Penman, who sadly passed away earlier this year, wrote mostly historical fiction, and not mysteries. Although I’m still mostly in love with her Justin de Quincy series, I also really like her “normal” historical fiction, including Lionheart, which, not surprisingly, is about Richard the Lionheart and the Third Crusade. And about Richard’s younger brother, John, left in England to cause trouble, and his mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine (the “Queen” in the Justin de Quincy series), who tries to prevent it. (It’s hard to imagine a more dysfunctional family…)
And right now Lionheart, which is the fourth book in her Plantagenets series, is on sale in the US for $1.99. As mentioned above, Penman’s books don’t go on sale very often, so grab this one if you want it!

Another non-Justin de Quincy book (i.e. non-mystery) from Penman, The Sunne in Splendour, is “a novel of Richard III”. It has dropped to $2.99 in the US right now.

Dragon’s Lair has dropped to $4.99 in the US again. The links in the OP are still good…
When Christ and His Saints Slept is the first in Penman’s series about that amazingly dysfunctional family, the Plantagenets. It has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. It’s normally $11.99 and doesn’t go on sale much, so grab it now if you want it!

If you missed When Christ and His Saints Slept at $2.99 a few months back, it’s now on sale for $3.99, which is still pretty good. The links three comments up are still good…
