I’ve really enjoyed the Temeraire books, by Naomi Novik, and now here’s the first in the series, His Majesty’s Dragon, on sale for $1.99 in the US. This is a fun series (although with occasional serious moments) that reminds me of a cross between Bernard Cornwell’s Sharpe books for the military elements and Anne McCaffery’s Pern series for the dragons. Oh, and add a good dose of steam-punk to the mix as well.
In the UK, the first book in the series appears to be called just Temeraire, and it’s on sale for £0.99 right now: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002RI9DD8
Temeraire is on sale for £0.99 again right now in the UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002RI9DD8
Now there’s an omnibus of the first three books in Temeraire series on sale for $2.99 in the US. That’s still a good price even if you already bought the first book when it was on sale by itself a couple of years ago. The books in the omnibus are: His Majesty’s Dragon (apa Temeraire), Throne of Jade, and Black Powder War

And my thanks to @salty-horse at the MobileRead forums, whose post alerted me to the sale on the omnibus.
